My rating: 5 of 5 stars
INFINITE AMOUNT OF STARS. FAVORITE FAVORITE FAVORITE!!!! SARAH J MAAS IS BRILLANT!!!!
She was fire and light and ash and embers. She was Aelin Fireheart, and she bowed for no one and nothing, save the crown that was hers by blood and survival and triumph.
WARNING: I have just finished and the feels are overbearing and all over the place. Spoilers will be discussed. The emotions are high. Enter at your own risk. But really if you haven't read this series

*screeches into the distance while crying*
OKAY OKAY.
DEEP BREATHS.
I don't even know where to start. We have come SO FAR from where this series has started and it has been truly a gift to read.
SAM. THE SAM FEELS WERE SO REAL.
CAN WE JUST.
"I miss you." She said. "Every day I miss you. And I wonder what you would have made of all this. Made of me. I think-I think you would have been a wonderful King. I think they would have liked you more than me actually." Her throat tightened." I never told you-how I felt. But I loved you. I think a part of me might always love you. Maybe you were my mate, and I never knew it. Maybe I'll see you again in the afterworld, and then I'll know for sure. But until then...until then I'll miss you, and I'll wish you were here."
THE TEARS. THAT PART. THE FEELS.
I don't care what some reviewers say. THIS BOOK WAS OUTSTANDING. It tied everything together with a nice shiny bow FABULOUSLY. AND IT WAS SO HEART RACING. IN EVERY WAY.
The first part of the book was the reunions and the big showdown with Arboynn. I loved every moment of how that whole thing went down.
Aelin peered down at the former master, her face blank save for the slight tightening around her mouth. "I hope the dark gods finds a special place for you in his realm." She said and a shiver went down Rowan's spine at the midnight caress of her tone.
*pumps fist* THAT FUCKER GOT WHAT WAS COMING TO HIM AND IT WAS AWESOME.
Ahhhhhh okay now let's talk about my baby DORIAN.
We knew it was going to be heart breaking after heir of fire. But my god. I had tears during most of his point of views. It was hard to read. So much pain, despair, and struggle..
"He could not remember his name. That was the first thing he'd forgotten when the darkness enveloped him weeks or months or eons ago. Then he'd forgotten the names of others who meant so much to him.
Absolutely heartbreaking and that's not even the worst but I really don't wanna go back and relive it because it was awful. And full of the worst kinds of feels that all I kept thinking was: PLEASE STOP HURTING MY BABY. STOPPP IT SARAH!!!
It was an emotional time...
BUT THEN AELIN CAME. AND IT WAS GLORIOUS.
"Dorian, we get to come back from this loss-from this darkness. We get to come back and I came back for you."
*FLAILS LIKE A PSYCHOTIC BAT*
YES! *wipes tears to continue reading.*
And the GUILT that Chaol was feeling all through this book...
Chaol. Oh Chaol how I loved you so in the first books. Then heir of fire happened and he got frustrating and it continued on in this book like 3/4 of it. MY GOD. THE CHAOL AND AELIN REUNION WAS HEART WRENCHING BECAUSE I SHIPPED IT BACK THEN
"There hasn't been a 'we' for a while Celeana-"
"It's Aelin now," she snapped as loudly as she dared. "Celeana Sardothien doesn't exist anymore."
"You're still the same assassin who walked away. You came back only when it was useful to you."
STOP IT CHAOL. STOPPPPPPPP
Aelin hissed, "Need I remind you Captain, that you went to Endovier and did not blink at the slaves, at the mass graves? Need I remind you that I was starved and chained and you let Duke Perrington force me to the ground at Dorians feet while you did nothing? And now you have the nerve to accuse me of not caring, when many of the people in this city have profited off the blood and misery of the very people you ignored?"
The anger and hurt they both felt towards the other...
Chaol was so mean and rude to her that I wanted to shake him and ask what the hell happened to being in love with her?! UGH.
It was all sad but eventually we got that closure and respect from one another that we needed and it was beautiful.
"It meant something to me. What you and I had. More than that, your friendship meant something to me. I never told you the truth about who I was because I couldn't face that truth. I'm sorry if what I said to you on the docks that day-that id pick you-made you think I'd come back and it would all be fixed. Things changed. I changed."
WELP. THAT SHIP HAS SUNK. LIKE THE DAMN TITANIC.
And no. I don't know if I ship him with Nesryn yet. She was really cool and totally badass with the bow and arrow but I'm not sure yet. I'm excited to see where it goes in the next one.
But Aelin and Chaol. It was sad but understandable because Aelin has come so so far and has changed and grown into such a fantastic and STRONG queen. She is not the slaved assassin we met in Throne of Glass. She is finally a true QUEEN.
"Fire-breathing bitch-queen."
PERFECT NAME. She was so smart and badass in this one and it was so much fun to read!!
She was a whirling cloud of death, a queen of shadows, and these men were already carrion.
AND AND AND. THE RESCUE OF AEDION IN THIS BOOK.
AHHHHHHHHHH THAT PART WAS SUSPENSEFUL AND SO WORTH THE WAIT.
Behind them, across the hall, dancers shattered their roses on the floor, and Aedion grinned at his queen as the entire world went to hell.
SO MUCH BADDASSERY.
I loved having Aedion working alongside Aelin in this book. They were finally together ready to take on their enemy that destroyed their kingdom. And the love that they had for one another was so sweet.
"Whatever you had to do to survive, whatever you did from spite or rage or selfishness...I don't give a damn. You're here-and you're perfect. You always were and you always will be."
AEDION AND AELIN. BEST COUSINS OF THE YEAR AWARD.
*applause*
And I am totally feeling him and Lysandra! Lysandra was another fantastic addition to this book! I remember how annoyed I was with her in Assassins Blade but I totally fell in love with her in this book!! I actually love her so much more than Nehemia and her growing friendship with Aelin was a lot of fun and hilarious to read. I'm really excited to see more of her in the next book!
Then we had the Manon chapters. I always got stuck on them in the beginning but then they grew on me and I loved it! Especially her relationship with Aesterin and Elide. Her character has come to far since we initially met her in Heir of Fire and I can't wait to see what goes down with it.
AND WHEN SHE MET AELIN. THAT WAS SO EPIC. WORTH THE BUILDUP AND COMPLETELY AWESOME.
But perhaps the monsters needed to look out for each other every now and then.
IM CALLING BY THE END OF THE SERIES THERES GOING TO BE AN ALLIANCE WITH THE WITCHES AND AELIN AND MANON WILL BE BFFS!
We can only hope right? Because that would be perfect!
OKAY OKAY I SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST.
MY FUCKING OFFICIAL SHIP.ROWAELIN FOR THE WIN. WE ARE ENDGAME AND CANNON AND I SHIP IT SO HARD OMG
*drowns in a puddle of OTP heaven*
"If you're a monster, I'm a monster."
ROWAN. ROWAN. MY BABY I LOVE YOU SO MUCH YOU WONDERFUL SEXY FAE YOU
THEIR BANTER.
"Seventeen year old Aelin must have been a delight to deal with."
She fought the twitching in her lips. "I would pay good money to see seventeen year old Aelin meet seventeen year old Rowan."
His green eyes glittered. Arobynn was still talking. "Seventeen year old Rowan wouldn't have known what to do with you. He could barely speak to females outside his family."
"Liar- I don't believe that for a second."
"It's true. You would have scandalized him with your night clothes-even with that dress you have on."
She sucked on her teeth. "He would probably have been even more scandalized to learn I'm not wearing any undergarments beneath this dress."
The table rattled as Rowan's knee banged into it.
THE SEXUAL TENSION. AND OMG SO MUCH I CANT
"I want to take my time with you-to learn...every inch of you. And this apartment has very very thin walls. I don't want to have an audience," he added as he leaned down again brushing his mouth over the cut at the base of her throat, "when I make you moan Aelin."
Oh by the Wyrd. She was in trouble. So much rutting trouble. And when he said her name like that...
*fans self* AHHHHHHH
And that wasn't even the half of the sexual tension in this book! Ahhh it was definitely steamy.
BUT BUT BUT THEY TOTALLY LOVE EACHOTHER TOO AND ITS SO BEAUTIFUL.
You make me want to live Rowan. Not survive, not exist. Live."
AND THEN.
He shifted his arm so he could brush her hair back. His fingers lingered along her jaw. "You make me want to live too Aelin Galathynius," he said. "Not exist-but live." He cupped her cheek and took a steadying breath-as if he though about every word these past three days, over and over again. "I spent centuries wandering the world, from empires to kingdoms to wastelands, never settling, never stopping-not for one moment. I was always looking toward the horizon, always wondering what waited across the next ocean, over the next mountain. But I think...I think in that whole time, all those centuries, I was just looking for you."
He brushed away a tear that escaped her then, and Aelin gazed at the Fae Prince who held her-at her friend who had traveled through darkness and despair and ice and fire with her.
She didn't know which one of them moved first but then Rowan's mouth was on her and Aelin gripped his shirt, pulling him closer, claiming him as he claimed her.
THIS IS WHAT OTPS ARE MADE OF.
*weeps with joy*
I can go on and on but I feel as if I've spoiled enough and I don't want to ruin it for you but their relationship is wonderful and beautiful and full of the best kinds of feels.
I am so overwhelmed the love and emotions I feel towards this world and I am absolutely DYING for the next book!!!!! I need it RIGHT NOW.
HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO WAIT A YEAR?!?!
It didn't end with a cliffhanger but I am still so pumped and ready for the next one! I need to know what happens to everyone!!This one was filled with action, romance, adventure and I need more of it! I've read every Sarah J Maas book and they just get better and better. So many twist and turns and this book went in a completely different direction than I thought it would and it was AWESOME. I'm so emotional!!
Silence fell again.
Dorian said,"So here we are."
"The end of the road," Aelin said with a half smile.
"No," Chaol said, his own smile faint, tentative. "The beginning of the next."
The tears.
Then the last line of this book.
And at long last, Aelin Ashryver Galathynius was home.
*cries*
What an emotional marathon.
HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO WAIT AND READ OTHER BOOKS?
*rereads till book5 comes out*
