Review: Penny in London

Penny in London Penny in London by Fisher Amelie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*4.5*

I don't believe in regrets, not really. I mean, in the heat of a moment I may strongly wish I hadn't done something but to be honest, I believe all our decisions help mold us into the persons we're supposed to become. Think about it, if everyone made flawless decisions, how could any of us truly understand life, and all it's accompanying beauties? If we never suffer, how can we recognize joy for what it is? If we never witness another's struggles, how can we submit ourselves to helping them? No regrets help shape us into selfless people. After all, the only regrets people really speak of are surrounded by a hesitation to love or allow love.

LOVE. LOVE THIS BOOK! Go make your heart happy and read this book!

SO MUCH CUTENESS

The most painful thing is losing yourself in the process of loving someone too much and forgetting that you're special too.

So we follow Dallas-born beauty vlogger Penny whose packed her bags and took off to London to live with her boyfriend Graham. Flash forward six months and we all soon learn Graham is not all he says he is. He's been cheating and quickly dumps her to be with the other girl and tells Penny to move out immediately DOUCHEBAG Penny, heart broken and tipsy from the club they were at, accidentally falls into her neighbors pit and ends up with not only a broken heart, but a fractured leg and broken arm. Then ends up having to stay with her only other friend in London, Oliver *swoon* Oliver is ridiculously hot and also happens to be a bit of a player. They grow closer and closer, strike up a friendship and then start to fall in love, but Penny is still nursing her broken heart and trying to come to term with the sudden change in her life.

"You were supposed to see him for what he was. You were never supposed to love him."
The tears start streaming. "That's an issue, Oliver, you know why? Because I did fall in love, but it was the version of him he wanted me to love. It's the most damaging consequence associated with sociopaths. You love the person they want you to love, and then you're left with the aftermath when they finally decide to show their true colors."

Penny was SO RELATABLE. I loved going with her on her journey towards discovering who she was and realizing what she wanted in life. She was hysterical and some of the situations she would get into were so cringe worthy in the best way! So many laughs! And her job was so awesome to read about! And so was Olivers!

I waited for Oli to open my door, which was something Graham had never done for me. With every kindness Oliver offered me, the love I thought I felt for Graham fell through to the earth in small bits of burning ash.

The development was so good!!!

With unnecessary caution, as if he was still afraid of my rejecting him, he inched his hand toward mine. I didn't dare move my fingers with his. He needed to know he had to do all the work but I wanted him to do it. With Graham, I did all the apologizing, all the groveling, all the wanting, all the work. It got me none of the reaction I was begging for in him. Simply put, if a boy wants to love you, he will. You cannot force it. Trying to only makes you appear weak, and women are infinitely more powerful than they could possibly comprehend.

I loved watching their relationship progress and it was the cutest thing! Especially the ending! I was so happy and smiling ear to ear! Honestly this book is PERFECT if you just want to read something light and fun! There is a touch of drama and then towards the second half it dives into a bit of a serious issue but I loved how it was done.

"I lied before," I told him. "I know it's me you want. Know it's you I want too, but there's a canyon between us neither of us are ready to vault over. Neither of us would survive it."

It's about falling in love almost at the wrong time in your life and trying to allow your head to catch up to your heart. It plays in your head like a classics romantic comedy and it's fantastic.

"I'm afraid of you Oliver Finn."
Oliver stopped breathing. I saw it. His chest settled still and he sat upright, leaning toward me, his face inches from mine.
"I won't argue with that," he revealed.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because you should be afraid of me."
"I am, but my reasons are my own. I wonder though, what yours are," I whispered.
He gave me that same smile again, the one that revealed he knew much, but would divulge none of it.

I love Oliver!
*squeals*

"Why?" He asked me. "Why would you want to be in my messy, complicated life Penelope?"
"Too many reasons to mention really, but mostly because you fit me so perfectly. You're interested in me, really interested. There's nothing more attractive to a girl than a boy who genuinely cares for them."
"I am and I do," he admitted.

It's a rather short story and extremely light and highly entertaining. The dialogue was charming, witty, and full of so much fun banter. I loved-loved how it was set in London and I had a very Beatles-like feel. Penny Lane by the Beatles just kept running through my head! Currently still on replay!
Definitely pick this one up if you're in the mood for something really cute and happy!!!! Highly recommend! Super excited to read more from Fisher Amelie!

"May I ask you a question?" He asked.
"Yes" I answered.
"Could you fall in love with me?"
"Yes," I told him without hesitation.
"Would you?"
"Yes."
"Will you inform me the hour, the minute, the second you do?"
"The very moment." I promised.
